Schenectady Criminal Court Records

Schenectady County, New York Warrant Search

Yes. Schenectady County requesters may access public warrant-related information, but access depends on the type of warrant, the court or agency that issued it, whether it has been executed, and whether the record is sealed, juvenile-related, confidential, or part of an active law-enforcement investigation.

New York’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) (Article 6 of the New York Public Officers Law) guarantees the public’s right to inspect, view, or make copies of government records, including warrant-related information, unless otherwise stated by law.

The Law also allows custodian agencies to restrict public access to records that, if disclosed, would interfere with investigation or judicial proceedings. Court records may also be controlled by court rules, sealing statutes, and the court clerk’s access procedures.
